With the addition of 115 new electric buses, more than half of the mall axle fleet has standard network
The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, stressed that from this Monday the electric fleet in circulation will reach 676, the largest in Latin America and the second in the world after China.
The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, together with the Intendent of the Metropolitan Region, Felipe Guevara, and the mayor of Santiago, Felipe Alessandri, today announced the arrival of 115 new electric buses that will be added to count this Monday to capital public transport. With this, 51% of the fleet running on the Alameda axis has Red standard and have air conditioning, universal access, wifi, USB ports and environmentally friendly technology.
The buses, which will be operated by the company STP, will take tours in the communes of Maipú, Cerrillos, Central Station, La Florida, Las Condes, Providencia and Las Condes, and some of them will circulate on the Alameda axis.

The Secretary of State added that, within the coming weeks, another 100 electric buses will be added, a process that is part of the gradual entry of 1,160 buses of standard Red that will be completed next September and that will allow to have a fleet of 2,220 Red buses, equivalent to 32% of the fleet.
Transitional phase reinforcements in Santiago and E. Central
Following the start of the Transition phase in the communes of Santiago and Central Station, Minister Gloria Hutt reported that a re-strengthening plan will be implemented in the metropolitan public transport system from Monday.
“The operation of 100% of the system’s fleet will be arranged, as both communes are a structuring axis of public transport. This means that there will be 500 additional buses on the Alameda axis throughout the operating hours, which starts at 5:30 hrs. and 20:30 hrs., when the last bus dispatches are made”, reported the headline of the MTM.

In the case of subway, on Monday the san Ramón, Santa Julia and La Granja stations of line 4a will reopen and there will be reinforcement in the offer of trains at peak times.
For its part, Tren Central will gradually increase the supply of trains and perform injections of empty trains at peak times to promote the mobility of users.
The authorities also reported interventions at 220 semaphore crossings in the communes of Santiago and Central Station to speed up pedestrian displacement and avoid concentration of people on the corners.
